Dr. Kafayat Y. Belewu holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics and is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Her research focuses on agricultural production, food security, poverty and welfare issues, rural development, climate change, health economics, social protection, and welfare and development economics. She is particularly interested in generating evidence-based research that contributes to improved agricultural productivity, sustainable livelihoods, poverty reduction, and inclusive rural development. Dr. Belewu has published extensively in reputable national and international journals. She has also supervised over fifty undergraduate students in their final-year research projects, several of whom have progressed to postgraduate studies in different countries across the world. Her current academic and research drive is inspired by a strong passion for seeing agriculture, in all its forms, transformed into a source of pride, prosperity, and sustainable development for Nigeria and its practitioners. She is committed to contributing to the evolving agricultural transformation through research, teaching, mentorship, and policy-relevant scholarship. Dr. Belewu is a member of several professional bodies, including the Agricultural Policy Research Network, The Econometric Society, African Farm Management Association, African Association of Agricultural Economists, Agricultural Society of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists, among others.
